I had a blast working on this and the team was amazing! On this project I studied story scripts, sketched room ideas, and created designs within budget. I worked from the Directors' and Producers' inspirations to design the speakeasy and maze rooms. I painted and textured multiple sets, props, and backdrops and arranged decor.
"'Ghosts of the Grand' is a month-long interactive horror experience at the Historic Grand Theater in downtown Salem. Unlike traditional haunted houses, this immersive event allows you to step into a living nightmare where you're not just a spectator—you’re part of the story. Explore the haunted corridors of a 124-year-old theater, from the eerie balcony to the mysterious ballroom, and venture into hidden spaces like the basement, tunnels, and a secret speakeasy. The experience blends live performances, chilling effects, and interactive elements that will make you feel like the haunt is happening all around you. Whether you're into horror or simply enjoy a thrill, Ghosts of the Grand promises to be much more than a haunted house—it's a full-blown horror adventure that will engage your senses and keep your heart racing." - Grand Historical Order of Salem Theaters

I worked with Jackie Nash on finishing her builds by sanding and painting. I was responsible for painting, texturing, and set dressing this jail area scene. I was given direction to paint these wooden doors to look like rusted metal and install them.
The first image on the far left is how the room started after we cleared it out. The right image is the finished space.
This basement Sacrificial Room was originally designed as a speakeasy bar but was changed to be the final room maze-goers would pass through. I worked with my partner, Nik Kolb, on this project. He did the carpentry and building and I designed, painted, and dressed the set.
The new speakeasy bar design which I created in the Green Room, backstage of the theater. Guests were given a secret map at the end of the haunted maze in order to find the speakeasy.
